dCS MCD 16 Multichannel DAC To Debut At High End Vienna 2026
dCS MCD 16 MARKS COMPANY’S MOVE INTO MULTICHANNEL AUDIO
dCS will use High End Vienna 2026 to introduce the new dCS MCD 16, the company’s first multichannel digital-to-analogue converter.
Developed around eight of dCS’s Ring DAC circuits, the MCD 16 provides 16 channels of audio conversion and is designed for immersive music playback systems.
DCS MCD 16 MULTICHANNEL DAC
The unit features a discrete Class A output stage for each channel, with switchable 2V and 6V outputs. dCS says the platform has been created to maintain low distortion and noise levels across the full dynamic range.
IMMERSIVE AUDIO DEMONSTRATION WITH dCS, TRINNOV AND PERLISTEN
The MCD 16 will form part of a collaborative demonstration with Trinnov Audio and Perlisten Audio. The system combines Trinnov’s AltitudeCI Audio-over-IP processing platform with a large-scale Perlisten loudspeaker setup and dCS conversion technology.
According to the exhibitors, the demonstration system is configured as a 15.8.8 immersive audio installation focused on music reproduction rather than cinema effects, with attention paid to signal processing, loudspeaker integration and spatial rendering.
JUSTIN GRAY TO HOST DAILY IMMERSIVE MUSIC SESSIONS
Grammy-winning producer Justin Gray will host a series of daily sessions throughout the exhibition. The presentations will feature material from immersive music productions played back from original high-resolution Dolby Atmos production files.
Gray will also discuss aspects of immersive recording and production during the sessions, giving visitors insight into how multichannel music releases are created and mixed.
dCS MCD 16 AVAILABILITY
dCS expects the MCD 16 to begin shipping in Autumn 2026. Full technical specifications and pricing are expected to be announced closer to launch.
