Engström M-Optic Debut At High End Vienna 2026
ENGSTRÖM M-OPTIC EXPANDS THE BRAND’S ANALOGUE RANGE
Swedish HiFi brand Engström will use High End Vienna 2026 to introduce the new M-OPTIC optical cartridge amplifier alongside demonstrations of its existing electronics range.
The Engström M-Optic is designed as the optical cartridge counterpart to the company’s M-PHONO stage and is intended to work within a complete Engström analogue playback system.

ENGSTRÖM M-OPTIC FEATURES TUBE AND TRANSFORMER DESIGN
The M-OPTIC uses a Lundahl transformer to convert the photodiode signal current into voltage gain, with Engström stating that the design also helps maintain channel phase alignment while reducing unwanted low-frequency boost from the cartridge signal. The signal path then uses parallel-coupled 6922 valves, followed by a dedicated 6922 equalisation stage. Balanced and single-ended connectivity is available through XLR and RCA inputs and outputs.
M-OPTIC POWER SUPPLY DESIGN FOCUSES ON CHANNEL SEPARATION
Separate power supplies are used for each channel, with the unit employing three transformers, two chokes and seven regulated supplies. Engström also says that double-layer magnetic shielding is used internally to minimise interference within the signal path.
ENGSTRÖM SYSTEM DEMONSTRATIONS PLANNED FOR HIGH END VIENNA
Alongside the M-OPTIC launch, Engström will demonstrate several complete systems during the show. In Room 0.94 at the Austria Center Vienna, visitors will be able to hear the Lars, Monica and M-OPTIC combination partnered with equipment from Kroma Atelier, Argento, Artesanía Audio, Thales and Wadax.
A second system in Room 2.67 will feature the Arne amplifier and M-PHONO stage, again in collaboration with a range of associated brands including Kroma Atelier, Cinnamon Audio and J Sikora.
ENGSTRÖM AT VIENNA SOUND FEST 2026
Engström will also participate in the Vienna Sound Fest, a separate event running at the same time as High End Vienna, at Tech Gate, a short walk from the main venue, where the company plans to demonstrate its Eric Encore amplifiers together with Monica and M-OPTIC electronics.
