Titanic of Northern Ireland has announced the Titanic Audio Tidal Axis, a new five-layer platter upgrade system designed for use with vinyl turntables.

Developed in Belfast, the Titanic Audio Tidal Axis Platter Upgrade Systemis intended to improve mechanical stability and resonance control between the record and platter during playback.

TITANIC AUDIO TIDAL AXIS

The Tidal Axis uses a five-layer multi-material laminate construction that combines a high-density structural polymer, constrained viscoelastic interfaces using 3M 300LSE adhesive, and a cellular composite damping core. According to Titanic Audio, the layered approach is designed to interrupt and dissipate unwanted vibration and resonance generated by the turntable motor and stylus interaction.

The company also says its proprietary HEX-DNA micro-cellular geometry is intended to reduce high-frequency micro-vibrations and improve record stability during playback.

TITANIC AUDIO TIDAL AXIS REVERSIBLE SURFACES

A key feature of the Tidal Axis is its reversible dual-surface design. One side uses the HEX-DNA surface, which Titanic Audio says delivers a warmer and more controlled presentation, while the opposing polymer surface is intended to offer a more detailed and dynamic sound character.

The system has been designed to allow users to choose between the two playback profiles depending on system matching and listening preferences.

TIDAL AXIS AND NEWTON CLAMP

Titanic Audio says the Tidal Axis has been optimised for use with its Newton Record Clamp, particularly when using the polymer surface. The company states that the clamp creates a tighter mechanical bond between record and platter to help reduce the effects of vibration and improve playback stability.

Designer Gary Campbell commented that the project was developed to give vinyl listeners more control over the mechanical behaviour of their turntables and the resulting playback presentation.

TITANIC AUDIO TIDAL AXIS SPECIFICATIONS

The Tidal Axis has a standard 12-inch diameter for compatibility with most turntables. Key specifications include a five-layer multi-material structure, reversible dual-surface tuning and the company’s HEX-DNA geometry technology.

TITANIC AUDIO TIDAL AXIS PRICE AND AVAILABILITY

The Titanic Audio Tidal Axis will be available from May 2026 with an RRP of £300.

HiFi PiG says: An interesting new turntable upgrade from Titanic Audio.
