NEW GIK ACOUSTICS BASS TRAP PANELS EXPAND LOW-FREQUENCY CONTROL RANGE
GIK Acoustics has announced an expanded range of deep bass trap panels designed to improve low-frequency control in listening rooms, studios and home cinema environments.
The new models are the GIK Classic Bass Trap Panel “60Hz”, GIK Amplitude Bass Trap Panel “60Hz”, and GIK FlexRange® Bass Trap Panel “50Hz.
LOW-FREQUENCY CONTROL REMAINS A KEY CHALLENGE
The company highlights that low-frequency build-up remains one of the most difficult aspects of room acoustics, with issues such as standing waves and bass accumulation affecting clarity and balance. Many standard acoustic panels are not designed to absorb frequencies below 100Hz, leaving a gap in effective treatment for deeper bass.
GIK ACOUSTICS BASS TRAP PANELS TESTING AND CUSTOMISATION
All three models have been independently tested at the University of Salford in accordance with BS EN ISO 354:2003 standards. The panels are available in more than 20 Camira Cara fabric finishes, with multiple size options aimed at both domestic and professional installations.
GIK ACOUSTICS BASS TRAP PANELS WITH DEEPER ABSORPTION DESIGN
The new panels increase depth to 20cm (8”) and 22cm (9.5”), enabling absorption down to 60Hz and below. These models are positioned as standard, off-the-shelf solutions aimed at addressing lower frequencies more effectively than thinner designs. According to GIK Acoustics, this approach is intended to improve control over bass build-up and overall room accuracy.
GIK CLASSIC BASS TRAP PANEL “60HZ”
The Classic Bass Trap Panel “60Hz” is a broadband absorber built around a mineral wool core. It is designed to reach down to approximately 60Hz and offers improved low-frequency performance compared with the company’s existing 15cm panels.
GIK AMPLITUDE BASS TRAP PANEL “60HZ”
The Amplitude Bass Trap Panel “60Hz” combines absorption with scattering and diffusion elements. It is intended for users seeking both acoustic control and a more design-led approach, while maintaining similar low-frequency reach to the Classic model.
GIK FLEXRANGE® BASS TRAP PANEL “50HZ”
The FlexRange® Bass Trap Panel “50Hz” offers the deepest low-frequency absorption in the new range, extending to around 50Hz. Built around a two-frame system, it incorporates a configurable design that allows operation in Full Range, Range Limiter, or Scatter Plate modes, alongside a built-in air gap for enhanced performance.
