Rega has announced the official release of the Rega AOS MC moving coil phono stage, following its preview at the Bristol HiFi Show 2026.
The Rega AOS MC Moving Coil Phono Stage is a new design intended to bring performance elements from the company’s reference models into a more accessible product.

REGA AOS MC MOVING COIL PHONO STAGE
The Rega AOS MC moving coil phono stage is a dedicated moving coil preamplifier built around a circuit derived from the company’s AURA reference MC stage. It is designed as a fully adjustable unit to support a wide range of moving coil cartridges and to offer sufficient gain for low-output designs.
The Rega AOS MC moving coil phono stage uses a two-stage, all-analogue amplifier design with no digital control circuitry. It is housed in a custom half-width aluminium enclosure intended to screen the internal electronics from radio frequency interference. The circuit design avoids additional components that could compromise signal integrity and includes a self-adjusting servo control to compensate for temperature variations.
REGA AOS MC MOVING COIL PHONO STAGE TECHNICAL FEATURES
The unit uses parallel-connected low-noise FETs configured as a compound pair. This approach avoids bias current flowing in the cartridge coil. Adjustable loading options include resistive input settings from 70 Ω to 400 Ω and capacitive loading from 1000 pF to 4300 pF. Gain can be increased by 6 dB via rear panel controls, and the unit also features an automatic standby mode that can be disabled using rear-mounted dip switches.
