Audio Group Denmark has announced the Børresen M8 Gold Signature loudspeaker, a new flagship model positioned at the very top of the company’s range.

Designed and built in Denmark, the Børresen M8 Gold Signature represents the most ambitious loudspeaker project yet from designer Michael Børresen and draws together technologies developed across the group’s loudspeaker, amplification and noise-control brands.

Launched at the Audio Group Denmark HQ in Aalborg, HiFi PiG’s Stu and Lin will be bringing you their report from the exclusive event very soon, where the speakers launched alongside the Aavik M-880 monoblock amps.

BØRRESEN M8 GOLD SIGNATURE FLAGSHIP LOUDSPEAKER

The Børresen M8 Gold Signature has been developed without the usual commercial or technical constraints, with the stated aim of addressing room interaction, resonance control and dynamic behaviour at an extreme level. It is conceived as a reference-level loudspeaker rather than a conventional domestic product, both in scale and execution.

Standing over 2.2 metres tall and weighing 325kg per speaker, the M8 Gold Signature is intended to operate as a full-range system capable of high output and wide bandwidth, while maintaining consistency across different listening environments.

FOLDED DIPOLE BASS IN THE BØRRESEN M8 GOLD SIGNATURE

A defining feature of the Børresen M8 Gold Signature is its folded dipole bass system. Each speaker incorporates two bass modules using a total of twelve 8-inch bass drivers. These are arranged to radiate low frequencies forwards and backwards with opposite polarity, with the aim of controlling bass energy before it interacts with the listening room.

This approach is derived from Børresen’s earlier BM-series bass modules, here scaled up for flagship use. According to the company, the goal is bass reproduction that is less dependent on room size and placement while maintaining speed and control.

I’ve carried the vision for the M8 Gold Signature for a very long time. Only now, By uniting our boldest ideas with our most advanced components, including our folded-dipole bass systems, and lifting every limitation, we were finally able to bring it to life. The M8 Gold Signature demonstrates what becomes possible when we go all in

DRIVER TECHNOLOGY AND SPEED-FOCUSED DESIGN

The Børresen M8 Gold Signature is built around the company’s emphasis on low moving mass and fast transient response. All drivers use Michael Børresen’s patented iron-free motor system, designed to reduce inductance and magnetic hysteresis.

High frequencies are handled by the RP94 Gold Signature ribbon planar tweeter, while midrange and bass duties are shared across dedicated iron-free drivers. The specified frequency response extends from 20Hz to 50kHz, with a sensitivity of 87dB.

BØRRESEN M8 GOLD SIGNATURE AS A SYSTEM-BASED LOUDSPEAKER

Rather than being designed as a standalone passive speaker, the Børresen M8 Gold Signature is intended to be used as part of a system-based architecture. It supports bi-amplification and is designed to work with external analogue active crossovers, such as those found in Aavik electronics.

Bass and mid/treble sections are driven separately, allowing independent control and system optimisation. The loudspeaker was developed alongside Aavik reference amplification, with the intention of minimising system bottlenecks when used together.

NOISE AND RESONANCE CONTROL

Noise management is a central design focus of the Børresen M8 Gold Signature. The enclosure uses dense, multi-layer construction and a three-module architecture to manage mechanical energy. In addition, proprietary Ansuz technologies are integrated to address electrical and airborne noise, including Active Square Tesla Coils and Analog Dither Technology.

Mechanical grounding is handled via Ansuz Darkz Z3W resonance control devices, which are supplied as standard. These measures are intended to provide a low-noise platform for resolving fine detail and spatial information.

HANDCRAFTED IN DENMARK AND SPECIFICATIONS

Each Børresen M8 Gold Signature loudspeaker is handcrafted and calibrated in Denmark, with final measurement and listening evaluation carried out before shipment. The finish is black high-gloss lacquer with carbon detailing. Impedance is specified at 5 ohms for bass sections and 8 ohms for midrange and treble, with recommended amplification of over 100 watts per section.
