ELECTROCOMPANIET EC 5 PREAMPLIFIER DEBUT AT ASCOT THIS WEEKEND
After ten years of painstaking development, Norwegian HiFi brand Electrocompaniet unveiled its long awaited new Electrocompaniet EC 5 preamplifier at the High End Show in Munich in May 2025, on static display.
Following the unveiling at Munich, the Electrocompaniet EC 5 Preamplifier will make its international debut, in action, at the UK HiFi Show Live 2025, this weekend at Ascot Racecourse Grandstand.
ELECTROCOMPANIET EC 5 PREAMPLIFIER
The Electrocompaniet EC 5 Preamplifier stays true to the brand’s classic design aesthetic with meaningful new upgrades. It uses a fully electronic volume control system with no moving parts or relays in the signal path. The circuit keeps the path length constant at all volume levels and offers over 900 steps of adjustment in 0.1dB increments.
PURE CLASS A DUAL MONO DESIGN
The design is fully discrete, dual mono, and operates in pure Class A. Each channel has its own power supply, fed by an 80VA toroidal transformer and supported by 15,000µF of capacitance, with several stages of filtering to reduce noise. Specified performance includes a frequency response of 0.5Hz–450kHz and total harmonic distortion plus noise of 0.0002%.
The EC 5 also brings back a physical volume wheel, set into the acrylic front panel, alongside a 7-inch colour display. It is intended as a control hub for the company’s AW300M and AW800M power amplifiers.
ELECTROCOMPANIET WITH ELITE AT ASCOT
The Electrocompaniet EC 5 will debut in a system put together by distributor Elite Audio including the Electrocompaniet AW 300M monoblocks, AudioSolutions and Revival Audio loudspeakers, Aqua and Xact, in rooms 330 and 332.
