NEW GENERATION KEF MUO BLUETOOTH SPEAKER LAUNCHES
KEF has introduced the new generation of the KEF Muo Bluetooth speaker. Designed by Ross Lovegrove, the portable model takes inspiration from the brand’s sculptural Muon HiFi speakers, blending sound performance with a distinctive aesthetic.
The original KEF Muo launched in 2015
At the core of the new KEF Muo Bluetooth speaker is a racetrack driver developed to deliver extended bass response with reduced distortion. This works in tandem with KEF’s P-Flex Surround Technology, adapted from the KC62 and KC92 subwoofers, to maintain bass accuracy in a compact enclosure. A 19mm dome tweeter handles the high frequencies for detail and clarity.

The Muo also incorporates KEF’s Music Integrity Engine® (MIE), a suite of DSP algorithms found in larger KEF HiFi models such as the LS60 Wireless. MIE adapts the signal in real time, extending bass performance and ensuring balanced sound across a wide range of listening levels.
CONNECTIVITY AND FEATURES
The KEF Muo Bluetooth speaker supports Bluetooth® 5.4 with aptX Adaptive™, providing low-latency, high-quality streaming. It pairs easily with Google Fast Pair and Microsoft Swift Pair, while a USB-C port allows for wired laptop connection. Two Muo units can be set up in stereo for left and right channel playback, and multiple units can be linked via Auracast™ when compatible devices become available in 2025.
BATTERY LIFE AND DURABILITY
Battery performance reaches up to 24 hours of playback at moderate volume. A two-hour charge restores full power, while a 15-minute charge provides up to three hours of use. Rated IP67, the KEF Muo Bluetooth speaker is waterproof and dustproof, and is designed to operate in temperatures ranging from –20°C to 45°C.
CALL QUALITY AND APP CONTROL
The built-in microphone offers noise and echo cancellation for clearer calls. Users can also control settings and install firmware updates through the KEF Connect app.
DESIGN AND MATERIALS
Ross Lovegrove’s design adapts the Muon’s form into a portable size, with the speaker automatically adjusting EQ depending on whether it is placed vertically or horizontally. The enclosure is crafted from aluminium, while all plastic components use between 20% and 90% recycled material. The carrying strap is finished in a matching tone.
COLOUR OPTIONS AND AVAILABILITY
The KEF Muo Bluetooth speaker is available in seven finishes: Silver Dusk, Amber Haze, Orange Moon, Blue Aura, Moss Green, Cocoa Brown, and Midnight Black. Orange Moon and Blue Aura are exclusive to KEF direct channels and KEF Music Gallery London, while Orange Moon is additionally offered via KEF’s Amazon Store.
KEF MUO BLUETOOTH SPEAKER PRICE AND RELEASE DATE
The KEF Muo Bluetooth speaker is available to myKEF members from 23rd September 2025, ahead of general release on 30th September. Pricing is confirmed at £249 per unit.
