FAIR PAYMENTS FOR CLASSICAL AND JAZZ
Unlike the typical “pay per play” model, Presto Music calculates payments based on the seconds of music streamed, a system that they say better supports classical and jazz recordings, where track lengths far exceed those in popular music.

ENSURING PAYMENTS REACH MUSICIANS
With Fair Play now in place, Presto Music’s next step is ensuring that these higher revenues reliably reach the artists. The company is scrutinising the accuracy of data held by Collecting Societies, which allocate royalties to performers and composers. According to O’Reilly, poor database management disproportionately affects classical creators, leading to missed revenue that is redirected to other, better-indexed genres. “We’re committed to addressing these systemic issues to help ensure creators get their fair share,” he adds.

Presto Music’s streaming platform, launched in 2023, offers over 200,000 albums, many in high-resolution audio, tailored to classical and jazz enthusiasts.
