PMC DISTRIBUTION WILL DEBUT MARTINLOGAN MOTION AND MOTION XT AT THE BRISTOL HIFI SHOW

PMC Distribution UK, exclusive distributor for MartinLogan loudspeakers, has announced the release of two new product lines, the MartinLogan Motion and the MartinLogan Motion XT.

This premium collection has been completely reimagined with a fresh attitude, design, and advanced audio technology. “When the original Motion Series launched in 2010, we had no idea how much of a following the technology would generate,” said Allan Tarrant, MartinLogan’s senior vice president. “With this fourth-generation product, the design team has truly outdone itself with the performance, craftsmanship, and attention to detail that went into creating the new models.”

MARTINLOGAN MOTION XT AND MOTION SERIES

The Motion XT Series comprises four models, two floorstanding, one bookshelf and one centre channel. The Motion Series adds an additional five models, including two floorstanding, one bookshelf, one centre channel and the Motion MP10, a versatile multi-purpose solution for home theatre or stereo. The speakers feature improved drivers and a new waveguide design. There are a choice of three finishes, Gloss Black, Walnut and Satin White.

“MartinLogan gave the design team the opportunity to define the future direction of the brand with a truly clean-sheet design,” says Ian Sutton, PMC Distribution UK’s director. “The result is a collection of loudspeakers that are not simply an upgrade on their predecessors but a whole new level of quality and excellence that we know will thrill the UK audiophiles.”

FOLDED MOTION TWEETERS

The new range features a host of audio innovations, including Gen2 Obsidian Folded Motion Tweeters (FMT), which see MartinLogan’s signature thin-film tweeter technology upgraded with larger magnet structures. This is designed to improve performance with lower distortion and higher output, with the highest levels of detail and accuracy. Motion XT receives the highest performance variant FMT technology, the Gen2 Obsidian Folded Motion XT Tweeter.. The tweeters benefit from the Folded Motion Waveguide, which is designed to ensure consistent performance across a wide range of listening positions while minimising unwanted room reflections.

BASS DRIVERS

The bass drivers are also entirely new. Motion XT receives Nomex Reinforced Kevlar woofers for the critical midrange frequencies, while Motion uses Fiberglass woofers, perfectly aligning these series with their in-wall/in-ceiling CI siblings for seamless timbre matching.

CROSSOVERS

Integration of the drive units has been achieved through the development of new McCracken-Vojtko crossovers, the result of combining extensive anechoic and in-room measurements, with blind listening tests and the low distortion philosophy of MartinLogan’s signature Vojtko Crossover.

F.A.S.T. FOOT

The floorstanding models benefit from F.A.S.T. Foot, a new fully adjustable, toolless foot design that provides increased performance with their anti-vibration properties and fast adjustment to level a speaker on any type of flooring.

The Motion XT and Motion Series will be available for purchase in late February after its UK debut at the Bristol HiFi Show.
