Headphone Jewellery from Monster

Monster today unveiled what they are calling the “crown jewel” of all headphones at Harrods of London –  “Diamond Sally Sohn DT_LC2Tears Sally Sohn Edition Headphone”. To create these one-of-a-kind headphones Monster collaborated with Korean artist and jewellery designer Sally Sohn with the headphones being made from 18k gold encrusted with black diamonds totaling 5.56 carats.

In addition to the Diamond Tears Sally Sohn Edition Headphone, Harrods will also offer an exclusive new White and Black Tuxedo version of the company’s DNA headphones.

Priced at £20,000 ($30,000 U.S.) Hifi Pig suggests not leaving the Diamond Tears Sally Sohn Edition Headphones on the bus or tube!

Purity Audio Design of Endicott, New York, will officially debut their Series 2 Silver Statement linestage preamplifer PSE-300b3along with their PSE300B Ultra mono bloc amplifiers (pictured) which in turn will be driving Daedalus Audio loudspeakers at Axpona 2013 in Chicago.

The pair of monoblocs come with 4 Sophia Electric Princess 300B, 2 Sophia Electric Grade A 6SN7 and 2 5U4 Rectifier tubes.

Input Impedance: 100k Ohm single ended
Input Sensitivity: 250mV for full output
Maximum Output: 18 watts into 4, 8 or 16 ohm loads

Bristol Sound and Vision 2013

A great festival of technology that showcased many great British Hifi Brands including modern favourites such as Naim, Cyrus, Michell and Tannoy, and also the big boys including Pioneer and Yamaha with Sony’s 84 inch 4k TV attracting huge amounts of interest, the 4k is the resolution, not the price tag, which is more like 25k!
I was able to wander with relative comfort around the slightly sprawling hotel layout that had demo rooms spread over several floors.  It was interesting how well sound proofed the bedrooms were compared to how they normally are when you want to sleep in them. More »
