ADAM Audio Sub8 PRO And Sub10 PRO Add Adjustable Bass To A Studio Setup

ADAM Audio has announced the Sub8 PRO and Sub10 PRO, two powered subwoofers for music-making and monitoring systems. They launch alongside free ADAM Control software, which helps users adjust how the subwoofer and speakers work together.

These are substantial upgrades for an existing setup rather than complete first systems. Their purpose is to extend low-frequency playback and give producers more control over the bass they hear when making or mixing music.

Quick Reference

  • What: Two powered studio subwoofers with digital sound processing.
  • EU Prices: Sub8 PRO €999.99; Sub10 PRO €1,299.99, each.
  • Drivers: 8-inch and 10-inch woofers respectively.
  • Connections: Balanced analogue XLR/TRS and AES3 digital audio.
  • Control: Rear-panel controls and Ethernet-connected ADAM Control software.
  • Availability: EU pre-orders are estimated to ship from early November.

Two Sizes With Built-In Amplification

Both models use fibre-reinforced paper woofer cones, Class D amplification and digital processing for crossovers, filters and EQ. ADAM has also shaped the bass ports to reduce air turbulence.

The quoted frequency ranges are 26–300Hz for the Sub8 PRO and 21–300Hz for the Sub10 PRO, measured at -6dB. Both have wooden cabinets and protective metal grilles.

A subwoofer handles bass; you still need your main speakers and an audio source. These models use studio-style connections, so check how they will connect to your interface or other equipment.

Adjusting Bass For Your Room

ADAM Control connects over Ethernet and provides adjustments for EQ, level, phase and delay. That helps users align the subwoofer with the main speakers and deal with how a room changes the sound.

The software also allows Sonarworks SoundID Reference calibration profiles to run inside the devices. Manual adjustment through ADAM Control is free; the automated Sonarworks route requires its software and a measurement microphone.

Stereo, LFE and Wide operating modes support different setups, from normal two-channel monitoring to surround production. A footswitch input can bypass bass management. The standard two-year warranty extends to five years with registration.

What The Terms Mean

Subwoofer: A speaker dedicated to low-frequency sound.

DSP: Digital signal processing, used here to adjust and manage sound.

Crossover: The point where different parts of a system take over different frequency ranges.

Calibration: Measuring and adjusting a system to make its playback more consistent.

Ethernet Control: A wired computer connection for settings; it is separate from the audio inputs.
